Sous

Eating healthier just got easier

I wanted to share my love of cooking by designing an app to teach people how to cook, no matter where they live.

Challenge:

Design a User Experience for Social Good that can be used across multiple platforms.

Solution:

Design an app and website to help people of all ages not only get better at cooking but help them eat healthier.

The Process

Once I had decided what I wanted Sous to be about, I set off on designing the Mobile app version first because this would be the most accessible way to reach people all over the world.

I moved from paper wireframes, to digital wireframes, to lo-fi mockups and prototyping, to eventually designing a Hi Fidelity Prototype that was fully functional.

Usability Studies

There were a few important questions about the prototypes that I wanted answered so I had a participants from different age groups complete a short study.

The Questions:

  1. How long does it take a user to find a recipe?

  2. Is the User able to navigate through the app without any problems?

  3. Are there parts of the user flow where the user can get stuck?

  4. Do the users think the app is easy to use?

Insights:

  1. For most of the users, making sure that the nutrition facts were easy to find was important.

  2. Making sure that there is an area for the top rated meals by that user was helpful so they could always find their favorite dishes.

Responsive Design

Once I had the App version of Sous in a good position, I got to work on designing a responsive Website for multiple device layouts, mobile, tablet, and desktop.
